Taper Roller Bearings
Taper Roller Bearings :-
Relatively high speeds with combined axial &
radial load capacities
Wide variety of sizes available
(both Metric & Imperial)
Taper roller bearings use conical rollers that run on
conical races. Most roller bearings only take radial
loads, but taper roller bearings support both radial
and axial loads, and thus have some of the same
advantages as ball bearings. A disadvantage is that
the tapered roller is like a wedge and thus bearing
loads try to eject the roller; the force which keeps the
roller in the bearing adds to bearing friction.
A typical application would be as a wheel bearing
where you have two large loads, axial (cornering force)
and radial loads ( weight of car ) as well as a need for
relatively high speed.
