Loctite 561 for metal threads (Stick)

Loctite 561 is designed for the locking and sealing of pre-torqued metal pipes and fittings. It is supplied in a self-feeding applicator stick that facilitates application of the material where a conventional liquid or paste product would be difficult to use. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. This industrial grade sealant develops controlled low strength to facilitate disassembly.

Typical Performance of Cured Material

After 72 hours @ 22°C:
Breakloose Torque: ASTM D 6396: Pre-torqued to 27 N·m:
3/8 malleable iron pipe tees and steel pipe plugs (degreased): N·m 30 to 50 (lb.in.) (265 to 440)

After 24 hours @ 22°C:
Breakloose Torque: ISO 10964: Pre-torqued to 5 N·m:
3/8 x 16 steel nuts (grade 2) and bolts (grade 5) (degreased) N·m 7 to 10 (lb.in.) (60 to 90)

After 4 hours @ 22°C:
Breakloose Torque: ISO 10964: Pre-torqued to 5 N·m:
3/8 x 16 zinc phosphate & oil nuts and bolts (degreased): N·m 5 (lb.in.) (44)

Storage
Please store this product in the unopened container in a dry location.
Further storage information may be indicated on the product container labeling.

General information
This product is not recommended for use in pure oxygen and/or oxygen rich systems and should not be selected as a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials.
